Job summary

Oxford Population Health is seeking a Senior Communications Officer to join its Communications Team to enhance the department's reputation and maximise the visibility and impact of its research. You will lead media relations, produce press releases and newsletters, and coordinate multi-channel campaigns.

You will build relationships with journalists, funders, policy-makers and researchers, and monitor media coverage while maintaining brand and style guidelines.

Qualifications

• You will be educated to degree level or equivalent and have relevant experience in a communications and/or media management role.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills are essential, with the ability to explain complex information clearly to non-specialists.
• Strong interpersonal, research and analytical skills and the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Act as the primary focal point for the department’s media relations activities.
• Coordinate major announcements and identify newsworthy research with research groups.
• Create, edit and proofread communications materials for press, newsletters, website and social media.
• Build relationships with journalists, partner press offices and policy-makers.
• Monitor media coverage and develop performance metrics for communications activity.
