Job summary

Sidney Stringer Academy is seeking a dynamic Media & Performing Arts Technician to support the Performing Arts Department with sound production, lighting rigging, and AV setup. You will also manage media content, photos, and video for display and social channels.

The role requires practical IT skills, proficiency with Mac/PC, GarageBand, photography equipment, and theatre software. Interviews will be held on Thursday 1st October 2026.

Qualifications

• Minimum GCSE or equivalent in English and mathematics.
• Qualifications in performing arts or media is desirable.
• Experience of technical work within a theatre, entertainment or school environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide sound production and engineering, rigging, focusing and programming of lighting systems and use of audio-visual equipment.
• Support creation and administration of the school’s media output including social media, photography and videography.

We currently have a new opportunity for a dynamic and flexible Media & Performing Arts Technician to join our team.

Job overview

To support the Performing Arts Department by providing technical service including sound production and engineering, rigging, focusing and programming of lighting systems and use of audio-visual equipment. To also support the creation and administration of the school’s media output including social media, photography and videography.

The right candidate will have:

• Minimum GCSE or equivalent in English and mathematics
• Qualifications in performing arts or media is desirable
• Experience of technical work within a theatre, entertainment or school environment
• Ability to perform tasks requiring working at height (e.g., rigging) and heavy lifting.
• Strong knowledge and proficiency in IT, media technology, digital film recording/editing equipment, including Apple Mac/PC computers, GarageBand, photography equipment, projector setup, presentations, and specific theatre industry design programmes
• Ability to organise and manage media content (photos/videos) for display
