Salary: 31000 per annum.

Location: Remote.

Contract: Permanent, 35 hours per week.

A bit about the role

This is a fantastic opportunity for a proactive creative & enthusiastic Media Officer to join the team at Action for Children.

Responsibilities
  • Planning and delivering national regional and trade proactive and reactive media relations activity to highlight Action for Children campaigns, services, policy and fundraising initiatives.
  • Developing key relationships and engaging with national regional and trade media as appropriate, including journalists, producers and researchers.
  • Researching and writing media releases, statements and articles as appropriate for media outlets.
  • Writing briefings and Q&A.
  • Participating in the news and media relations rota 365 days a year 24 hours a day including weekends and bank holidays.
  • Helping identify and manage case studies.
  • Providing administrative support to the media team.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Experience of working within a press, PR or communications office handling proactive and reactive activities.
  • Experience of working with national broadcast, print and online media.
  • Experience of briefing and preparing service users and colleagues to undertake media interviews.
  • Experience of working on projects/campaigns within multidisciplinary teams to achieve shared objectives.
  • Experience of planning and delivering creative media strategies.
  • Experience of responding to crisis / reputation management issues.
  • Ability to build rapport and establish develop and maintain positive stakeholder relationships with journalists, staff, volunteers, vulnerable families, young people and children.
  • Ability to influence other teams with different priorities to achieve shared objectives.
  • This role requires occasional travel within the UK.
