Job summary

Yolk Recruitment Ltd is seeking a Mechatronics Engineer for a leading manufacturing business in South Wales. The role covers electromechanical product development across mechanical, electronic, control systems and testing, with collaboration to prepare for manufacture.

You’ll evaluate hardware designs, define requirements and work across 3D CAD, electronics and supplier interactions to deliver robust products with meaningful technical ownership.

Qualifications

• A degree in mechatronics, electronics, electrical engineering, product design or related subject.
• Practical understanding of interaction between mechanical, electrical, electronic and control systems.
• Experience with electronic hardware and interpreting schematics/technical docs.
• Some understanding of microcontrollers, embedded systems or basic programming.
• Experience moving products from concept through prototyping, testing and design improvement.
• Knowledge of verification, validation, risk management and structured product development.
• Mechanical design and 3D CAD experience.
• Hands-on engineering problem solving.

Responsibilities

• Support development of electromechanical products through testing, validation and launch.
• Develop and integrate mechanical, electrical, electronic and control elements within the product architecture.
• Review electronic hardware designs, schematics, components, and proposals.
• Define product requirements translating user and commercial needs into specs.
• Design mechanical components, assemblies and enclosures in 3D CAD as needed.
• Produce concepts, prototypes, detailed designs, drawings, and documentation.
• Plan and perform functional, performance, reliability, verification and validation testing.
• Investigate faults and test failures across systems.
• Support design risk assessments, FMEA and product risk management.
• Consider power, battery, heat, packaging, usability, manufacturability during development.
• Work with manufacturing teams and suppliers to prep for production.
• Maintain design records and contribute to technical files and product docs.
• Present findings, risks and recommendations to engineering, quality and stakeholders.
