Job summary

Focus Resourcing represents a Cardiff‑based manufacturer seeking a Mechatronics/Electro‑Mechanical Design Engineer to drive end‑to‑end product development from concept to commercial launch. Role covers design, prototyping, verification, and regulatory submissions in a collaborative, hands‑on R&D environment.

The position is based at the UHW Campus with standard hours, 09:00–17:00, Monday to Friday, and initially runs for 12 months with a view to permanent placement.

Qualifications

  • MEng / MPhys in Mechatronics Engineering or related field.
  • Experience with electro‑mechanical product development.
  • Familiarity with ISO 13485/21 CFR Part 820 / MDR, IEC 60601.
  • Basic MCU programming or embedded systems knowledge.
  • Proficient in 3D CAD design (Autodesk Inventor preferred).

Responsibilities

  • Lead end‑to‑end product development from concept to launch.
  • Design, prototype, verify and validate electro‑mechanical systems.
  • Ensure regulatory submissions and compliance with standards.
  • Collaborate with clinicians and stakeholders to define requirements.

Job description

A leading Manufacturer in Cardiff is seeking a Mechatronics / Electro-Mechanical Design Engineer to join their expanding R&D team. This role offers the chance to work on cutting‑edge electro‑mechanical products, contributing to the full product life cycle from concept to commercial launch. The role is initially for 12 months with a view to becoming permanent.

This position is based at the UHW Campus, with working hours from Monday to Friday, 09.00-17.00. While there is no hybrid working or WFH, the role provides a stable and structured environment, ideal for those who thrive in a collaborative, hands‑on setting.

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will lead and deliver end‑to‑end product development activities, including concept design, prototyping, design verification, and validation. They will develop and manage electro‑mechanical system designs, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and supporting regulatory submissions. This role also involves close collaboration with clinicians and stakeholders to develop user requirements and product specifications.
