Job summary

Yolk Recruitment Ltd in Swansea is seeking an Electronics Design Engineer to join a growing product development team. You will design and develop electronic hardware for new and existing products, from initial concepts through to production-ready designs, and collaborate closely with software, mechanical and manufacturing teams.

You will work hands-on in a lab, building and testing prototypes, verifying performance and driving improvements to reliability, manufacturability and cost.

Qualifications

• Strong practical knowledge of electronic circuit design, development, prototyping and testing.
• Experience with embedded microcontrollers and wired communication interfaces.
• Knowledge of EMC principles and compliance considerations.
• Ability to produce clear technical documentation and test reports.
• Hands-on laboratory work alongside design and development teams.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop electronic hardware from concept to production-ready designs.
• Develop power electronics, power supplies and RF circuitry.
• Create schematics and PCB layouts, select components, and support design decisions.
• Build, test and troubleshoot prototype electronics in a lab environment.
• Verify and validate designs, identify issues and implement improvements.
• Collaborate with software and mechanical teams for integrated systems.
• Support reliability, fault tolerance and safety in product development.
• Develop test equipment and fixtures for validation and manufacturing.
• Review designs to improve BOM cost, availability and performance.
• Work with manufacturing and supply chain to simplify assembly and reduce costs.
