Job summary

Rubicon Recruitment Agency is seeking a Mechatronics Engineer in the United Kingdom who will take specialist automation machinery from concept through CAD models to full commissioning on customer lines.

You will develop 3D models, PCB designs and microcontroller software, integrating pneumatics, sensors, and actuators while ensuring safety standards and working on site as needed.

Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
• Proficient with 3D CAD software such as AutoCAD or Fusion 360.
• Knowledge of pneumatics, linear motion, drives, sensors and actuators.
• PCB design, electronics or microcontroller systems with solid programming fundamentals (C/C++ desirable).
• Experience with special‑purpose machinery, automation or OEM machinery; food processing or stainless steel design bonus.
• Full UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Develop established machine designs to meet customer and application requirements.
• Produce 3D models, detailed manufacturing drawings and BOMs for frames, guarding, nozzles, manifolds and handling assemblies.
• Select and integrate pneumatic systems, linear motion, drives, sensors and actuators.
• Design PCBs and write, modify and debug microcontroller software for machine functions.
• Support machine build, trials, factory testing and commissioning, including site visits for installation and troubleshooting.
• Ensure designs meet machinery safety requirements and relevant industry standards.

You'll be the Mechatronics Engineer who takes specialist automation machinery from first 3D model to commissioning. Every design you produce goes from CAD to PCB to microcontroller code, and you'll see it built and running on a real production line. This is a role where high standards and a practical, problem-solving approach are genuinely valued, and where you can keep building expertise across mechanical and electronic disciplines.

As a Mechatronics Engineer, your responsibilities will include:
