Job summary

Outcomes First Group in Wetheringsett, Suffolk, invites applications for a Mechanics Instructor/Teacher to bring practical learning to life and help pupils develop confidence alongside academics.

You will work with the Headteacher to plan, deliver and evaluate a dynamic mechanics curriculum, adapting for diverse needs and embedding literacy, numeracy and ICT skills. UK driving licence is essential and safeguarding is central.

Qualifications

  • UK QTS desirable; industry experience welcomed.
  • UK driving licence is essential.

  • Take responsibility for the quality of teaching and learning in Mechanics.
  • Plan, deliver, and evaluate an engaging and effective Mechanics curriculum.
  • Create a positive, inclusive learning environment that supports progress and achievement.
  • Deliver motivating, well-structured lessons with high expectations for all learners.
  • Provide personalised and differentiated learning to meet a wide range of needs and abilities.
  • Maintain high expectations while building fair, respectful, and trusting relationships with pupils.
  • Use assessment effectively to track progress, address misconceptions, and inform future planning.
  • Embed literacy, numeracy, and ICT skills into teaching and wider professional practice.

Job description

As a Mechanics Instructor/Teacher, you'll play a key role in bringing learning to life, helping pupils develop valuable practical skills, confidence and independence alongside their academic learning. Working closely with the Headteacher, you'll contribute to delivering high-quality teaching and creating engaging learning experiences that motivate pupils and help them achieve their potential. You'll teach mechanics alongside other subjects as required, adapting your approach to meet the individual needs, interests and abilities of our pupils. Through practical activities, real-world experiences and engaging lessons, you'll help young people discover their strengths, develop new skills and build a sense of achievement. You'll also have the opportunity to contribute to the wider development of the school's curriculum, taking on additional responsibilities as agreed with the Head of Education. This is a fantastic opportunity for a passionate and creative educator to make a genuine difference while helping shape an ambitious and engaging educational offer.
