Job summary

Aggreko is seeking a Mechanical Workshop Engineer for its Lomondgate depot. The role involves hands-on servicing, maintenance, repairs, fault finding and basic installation/commissioning of diesel generators across a broad power range.

You will assess gear on return from hire, perform upgrades, and support electrical diagnostics and ECM programming. Time served or NVQ3 in engineering/mechanical, with experience in servicing large engines and good organisational, communication and PC literacy

Qualifications

  • Time served apprentice or NVQ level 3 in engineering/mechanical subject.
  • Experience servicing, repairing large engines (generators, HGV, plant equipment, agricultural machinery).
  • Good organisational & communication skills.
  • Good level of PC literacy including basic MS Office applications.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out fault finding, repairs, and load testing on diesel generators (20–2000kVA), including major engine overhauls.
  • Assess equipment condition on return from hire, completing upgrades, modifications, and improvements to maintain fleet quality.
  • Work across AC/DC electrical systems, supporting diagnostics, ECM programming, and control module configuration.

Job description

Bring your energy to Aggreko as a Mechanical Workshop Engineer based in our Service & Repair team in our Lomondgate depot.

As a Mechanical Workshop Engineer, you will be responsible for carrying out hands‑on servicing, maintenance, repairs, and fault finding, while also getting involved in basic installation and commissioning. Power without pause. Heating, cooling and oil‑free air without end. We keep our customers’ worlds on. From world‑class events that last a few weeks to mining operations and remote communities who rely on us for decades.

What you’ll do as a Mechanical Workshop Engineer:
  • Carry out fault finding, repairs, and load testing on diesel generators (20–2000kVA), including major engine overhauls
  • Assess equipment condition on return from hire, completing upgrades, modifications, and improvements to maintain fleet quality

You are:
  • Time served apprentice or educated to NVQ level 3 (or equivalent) in an engineering/mechanical subject
  • Experience servicing, repairing large engines (generators, HGV, plant equipment, agricultural machinery)
  • Good organisational & communication skills
  • Good level of PC literacy including basic MS Office applications
  • Well organised and capable of keeping vehicle to GSCS standards
