Job summary

University Hospitals Bristol & Weston NHS Foundation Trust (UHBW) is seeking an experienced Mechanical/Plumbing tradesperson for a fixed-term role based in Bristol within the Estates Maintenance Department. You will respond to breakdowns, carry out repairs, and perform routine maintenance to meet KPI targets.

The role involves on-call duties, small installations, and working from drawings and specs with supervision, plus mentoring apprentices in a busy healthcare environment.

Qualifications

• City & Guilds Mechanical/Plumbing Level 3 or equivalent.
• Experience as a domestic or commercial plumber.
• Willing to work in a healthcare environment.

Responsibilities

• Respond promptly to day-to-day breakdowns of plumbing and mechanical equipment.
• Carry out a wide range of mechanical and plumbing repairs.
• Undertake routine maintenance (PPM) and log work on the Agility PDA system to meet KPIs.
• Carry out minor installation work.
• Work from instructions, drawings and specifications with minimal supervision.
• Become certified as a competent person in your discipline.
• Pass on knowledge to apprentices and work experience students.
• Participate in out-of-hours on-call rota.

Job description

The Estates Maintenance Department at University Hospital's Bristol and Weston NHS Trust has an exciting opportunity arise for an experienced Mechanical/Plumbing skilled tradesperson based in Bristol on a fixed term basis.,

• React promptly to day-to-day breakdowns of plumbing and mechanical equipment/assets ensuring response and completion times meet the Trust KPI's
• Carry out wide range of mechanical & plumbing repairs
• Undertake routine maintenance (PPM) of equipment/assets ensuring all work is logged using the PDA on the Agility system to meet the Trust's KPI's.
• Carry out minor installation work.
• To physically carry out manual work using safe working practice
• Interpret and work from instructions, drawings and specifications appropriate to key trade, with minimal supervision
• To become certified as a competent person in a discipline within your skill set.
• Pass on knowledge to apprentices and work experience students
• Take part in out of hours on call rota.
• Experience of working as a domestic or commercial plumber in any setting
• A City & Guild Mechanical/Plumbing qualification at Level 3 or equivalent
• Have a desire to work in a large healthcare environment.
