Job summary

FCC Environment is seeking a Mechanical Technician to maintain and service mechanical equipment across the Gloucestershire EfW site. You will support the Mechanical Engineer to ensure reliability, safety and efficient operation of plant equipment including conveyors, boiler plant, steam turbine and generators.

The role is full-time, five days a week, with on-call work and overtime as required. A proactive, team-oriented approach and strong fault-finding skills are essential to meet production

Qualifications

• Extensive maintenance experience in power generation or energy-from-waste facilities.
• Experience in demanding and dynamic environments.
• Knowledge of health and safety legislation, safe working practices and outages.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Adaptable and flexible approach to work.
• Motivated, results-oriented and able to work independently or in a team.

Responsibilities

• Completing routine maintenance tasks on time and recording them in the plant's maintenance system.
• Prioritising and completing emergent work promptly.
• Assisting Mechanical Engineer with reviewing, updating and modifying maintenance plans.
• Developing work scopes and supervising contractors during outages.
• Managing plant improvement projects from evaluation through to implementation.
• Maintaining equipment and reporting defects or incorrect operation.
• Investigating and rectifying mechanical faults to minimise downtime.
• Assisting with statutory inspections and keeping documentation up to date.
• Coordinating maintenance activities and supporting other disciplines during shutdowns.
• Mentoring apprentices.
• Providing 24/7 plant support, attending call-outs and overtime when required.
