The role

We're looking for an experienced Mechanical Technician/Pipefitter to join our team, here in Aberdeen, to primarily support the assembly and test of the company’s sub-sea intervention ROV tooling small bore tubing (SBT), in accordance with the approved drawings, bills of material and procedures.

Working close with the Tooling Workshop Supervisor, Fugro Projects Team, Fugro QA/QC team - this role will report in to the Tooling Workshop Supervisor

Our engineering team is tasked with supporting our regional operations with innovative solutions in support of Fugro’s and our Client’s subsea operations across oil & gas, renewables, and decommissioning projects.

Your role and responsibilities

Here's a brief outline of what you might be involved in day to day, though there may be other duties, responsibilities and expectations in addition to this list:

  • Maintaining good quality assembly techniques while working to the technical instructions supplied
  • Giving accurate feedback to the Workshop Supervisor on the status of their jobs and any potential hold points within the assembly process
  • Maintaining high standards of cleanliness and good husbandry skills within the workshop and off site while visiting or working at customers’ premises
  • Personal appearance at all times in keeping with the ethos of an employee of Fugro, while working in the workshop or off site at customers’ premises
  • Punctual timekeeping in line with their shift patterns
  • Adherence to all HSEQ policies and procedures and ensuring clients/contractors while visiting the workshop are provided with the same duty of care
  • Adherence to all company and customer documentation where necessary and ensuring all experiential and competency documentation and factory acceptance testing documentation is kept up to date
  • Ensuring that feedback is given and received between individuals and different departments during the course of carrying out their duties in the interests of continuous development and improvement.
  • Assembling and testing of all company’s new sub-sea intervention Rov tooling pipework
  • Completing workshop reports and carrying out refurbishment of tools for aftermarket.
What you’ll need to thrive in this role:

We're looking for an experienced Mechanical Technician/Pipefitter to be a part of our dynamic & innovative team of specialists, enabling us to continue providing an outstanding level of service to our broad range of clients. To help us achieve this, we'd love you to have the following in your arsenal of experience.

Qualifications required:

  • General school education including English, Maths and a Science subject.
  • Formal time served Modern Apprenticeship at a minimum SVQ level 3 or proven experience.
  • Small bore Tubing qualifications or proven experience such as Autoclave, Swagelok and ECITB levels.

Skills / experience required to do the job:

  • Experience within a mechanical workshop.
  • Excellent Troubleshooting knowledge of hydraulic pipework within mechanical systems.
  • Basic electrical competency and troubleshooting skills.
  • Understanding technical drawings and schematics in order to build and test equipment.
  • Proven skills and experience with installation of hydraulic components and pipework.
  • Experience with standard MS Office applications.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and communicate with people at all levels.
  • Self-motivated and committed to continual improvement.
