Job summary

A leading specialty chemicals producer in Tees Valley is seeking a Mechanical Technician to provide mechanical maintenance support in accordance with safety regulations. The ideal candidate will have 5 years of experience in a similar role and must be familiar with chemical plant equipment. This full-time position offers the opportunity to work in a dynamic environment with a strong focus on health and safety.

Qualifications

  • 5 years relevant experience in a maintenance role on a COMAH upper tier chemical manufacturing plant.
  • Must be familiar with repair of pumps, valves, and general chemical plant processing equipment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, self-motivated with a good team ethic.

Responsibilities

  • Implement planned maintenance tasks and repairing equipment.
  • Carrying out planned preventative maintenance activities.
  • Identifying faults for repairs.
  • Providing technical and troubleshooting support to personnel.
  • Being a key member of the on call rota system.
  • Daily input into the computerized maintenance management system.
  • Compliance with Health, Safety & Environmental management policies.

Position Context :

The position expedites mechanical maintenance activities safely and efficiently to agreed work plans safety management systems and best working practices in accordance with Health & Safety regulations and Business Objectives to ensure that the performance and availability of mechanical systems meets the standards required to achieve safety production and environmental targets for the Middlesbrough and Billingham sites.

Main tasks :

Implementing planned maintenance tasks and repairing equipment on as needed basis

Carrying out planned preventative maintenance activities

Identifying faults in order to carry out simple and / or complex repairs

Provide technical & troubleshooting support to company personnel in mechanical matters including breakdowns

Being a key member of the on call rota system & providing out of hours on call support to both sites

Implementing plant improvements as identified by the Maintenance Managers

Daily input into the computerised maintenance management system

Compliance with Health Safety & Environmental management policies

Required skills :

Ideal candidate would have 5 years relevant experience in a maintenance role on a COMAH upper tier chemical manufacturing plant

As a minimum the successful candidate should have a recognized apprenticeship or mechanical fitting / engineering qualification

Must be familiar with repair of pumps valves and general chemical plant processing equipment

Experience in inspection and repair of rotating equipment

Must be eligible to work in the UK and have full UK driving license

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills self-motivated with a good team ethic
