Job summary

Northwood is seeking an experienced Mechanical Technician with a heavy industry background to join our maintenance team in Stockport. You will plan and execute mechanical tasks, implement PM schedules and CIL maintenance, and support production with reliable operation of equipment.

The role is days-based with 1-in-4 week callouts, requires problem solving, safety compliance, and collaboration with teams. Northwood offers a strong pension, life assurance, and on-site parking, plus staff discounts

Responsibilities

• Ensuring mechanical maintenance activities are performed in compliance with environmental and safety rules, and Group procedure.
• Assist with the screening and actioning of non-breakdown mechanical work requests, and carrying out regular mechanical troubleshooting and repairs on machinery and equipment.
• Executing all planned and reactive maintenance activities.
• Researching innovative solutions aimed at ensuring the optimal operation of production equipment and improving mechanical maintenance efficiency.
• Flexible approach to working with operating teams to ensure production KPI’s are delivered.
• Performing activities in line with Group policy and procedure to achieve Zero Harm, e.g., LOTO, PTW, Pre-Task Risk Assessments, etc.
• Collaborating with the spare parts department to ensure mechanical maintenance activities are performed efficiently and costs are controlled.
• Carrying out building maintenance tasks where needed (or supervising internal colleagues or external resource to complete tasks).
