Opportunities for Mechanical Technicians

We have numerous opportunities for Mechanical Technicians to join our team at our Stocksbridge and Rotherham sites.

Role Overview

As a Mechanical Technician, you will be part of a multi-disciplined diagnostic team responding to breakdowns and completing planned maintenance on a 12-hour shift basis. You will support the Shift Management team (Production and Engineering) to ensure safety, quality, and production plans are met. The team may be required to assist across sites to support business objectives. Individuals will work across all departments to gain comprehensive knowledge, leveraging the experience of the local team.

Responsibilities
  • Report to the Team Leader Engineering regarding maintenance and operation of plant and equipment.
  • Perform planned and unplanned maintenance activities.
  • Organise and prioritize work, managing tasks as directed.
  • Develop maintenance practices and procedures.
  • Record work details via CMMS, manage spares, and update the team.
  • Ensure compliance with legal requirements and maintain records.
  • Advise on spares usage and requirements.
  • Adhere to procedures and systems, participate in creating RA SWP & JTDs.
  • Complete risk assessments at work points.
  • Provide ongoing site coverage during sickness and holidays.
  • Maintain equipment standards in collaboration with the engineering team.
  • Reduce waste in department operations.
  • Assist with various company tasks as needed.
  • Deputise for the Team Leader and supervise a multi-skilled workforce.
  • Issue permits and undertake on-the-job training.
  • Engage in plant improvement projects.
Requirements
  • Recognized mechanical engineering apprenticeship (preferably HNC, minimum ONC or equivalent).
  • Knowledge of industrial systems such as hydraulic systems, pumps, drives, gearboxes, heavy machinery, water cooling, conveyors, and dust extraction systems.
  • Self-motivated with leadership qualities.
  • Ability to work with cross-functional teams.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with root cause analysis capability.
  • Experience with permit systems or understanding of their operation.
  • Customer-focused attitude with good prioritization skills.
