As a Mechanical Technician, you will be part of a multi-disciplined diagnostic team responding to breakdowns and completing planned maintenance working 12-hour days. You will support the departments' Shift Management teams (Production and Engineering) to ensure Safety, Quality, and Production Plans are met. The team may be requested to assist across-site as needed to support business objectives. Individuals will be expected to work in all departments, gaining a working knowledge of each, leveraging the experience of the local team.

Role & Responsibilities
- Report to the Team Leader Engineering regarding maintenance and operation of all plant and equipment.
- Carry out planned and unplanned maintenance activities on all plant and equipment on site.
- Self-organise and prioritise work requirements, managing these as directed by the team leader, section engineer, or shift manager.
- Assist in developing maintenance practices and procedures to improve and maintain plant and equipment.
- Manage work, book out spares, and keep records via CMMS, updating the team on issues.
- Ensure all legal requirements relating to systems are met and records are maintained.
- Advise the team leader or section engineer of spares used or needed.
- Ensure adherence to procedures and systems of working, reporting any issues that prevent compliance. Participate in creating RA SWP & JTDs.
- Complete point of work risk assessments.
- Provide continuity of cover on site during sickness and holidays.
- Maintain equipment standards, liaising with the engineering department as required.
- Reduce/eliminate waste from department operations.
- Assist in all aspects of the company as requested.
- Deputise for the Team Leader.
- Supervise and organise a multi-skilled workforce.
- Issue permits, undertake on-the-job training, and learn new skills through training.
- Participate in plant improvement projects.
Minimum Requirements
- A recognized mechanical engineering apprenticeship (preferably HNC or minimum ONC level or equivalent).
- Knowledge and experience with industrial systems such as hydraulic systems, pumps, drives, gearboxes, heavy machinery, water cooling, conveyor, and dust extraction systems.
- Self-starting, capable of leading a small team.
- Ability to work with cross-functional groups.
- Strong problem-solving skills with ability to fault find to root cause and rectify issues.
- Experience with permit systems or knowledge of their operation.
- Customer-focused attitude with good prioritization skills.
