Job summary

Omega Resource Group is seeking a Mechanical Technician for Cryobitz Manufacturing in Witney. This hands-on role focuses on manufacturing and assembling cryogenic products, including transfer lines and LN₂ traps, with emphasis on precision welding, soldering, brazing and mechanical assembly.

The successful candidate will read engineering drawings, follow standard work instructions, maintain cleanliness, and perform leak testing and rework as required in a high-vacuum environment.

Qualifications

• Previous mechanical assembly, engineering or manufacturing experience.
• Ability to read and work from engineering drawings.
• Excellent attention to detail and workmanship.
• Experience with hand tools and workshop equipment.
• Ability to follow documented processes and instructions.

Responsibilities

• Assemble cryogenic systems from drawings and build information.
• Fit pipework, valves, vacuum components and assemblies.
• Perform vacuum and helium leak testing.
• Prepare components for high and ultra-high vacuum (UHV) applications.
• Maintain cleanliness and prevent contamination of vacuum-sensitive components.
• Complete mechanical fitting, drilling, tapping and general assembly work.
• Occasionally operate manual mills and lathes for simple machining.
• Follow route cards, drawings, Standard Work Instructions and manufacturing instructions.
• Complete and record required checks during assembly.
• Identify, investigate and resolve build problems, escalating issues where required.
• Carry out rework and modifications when required.

Position: Mechanical Technician

Role Purpose

We are seeking a skilled, practical technician to manufacture and assemble high-quality cryogenic products, including transfer lines, LN₂ traps, vacuum-insulated components and associated assemblies.

This is a hands-on role with a strong emphasis on precision welding, soldering, brazing, and mechanical assembly. The successful candidate will produce neat, accurate and carefully to engineering drawings and defined quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Assemble bespoke cryogenic systems from engineering drawings and build information.


• Fit pipework, valves, vacuum components, flanges and mechanical assemblies.


• Perform vacuum and helium leak testing of components and assemblies.


• Prepare, clean and handle components for high and ultra-high vacuum (UHV) applications.


• Maintain high standards of cleanliness throughout assembly and prevent contamination of vacuum-critic components.


• Complete mechanical fitting, drilling, tapping and general assembly work.


• Occasionally operate manual mills and lathes for simple machining and modification work.


• Follow route cards, drawings, Standard Work Instructions and manufacturing instructions.


• Complete and record required checks during assembly.
