You will read engineering drawings, assemble from build information, and maintain cleanliness to prevent contamination of vacuum-critical components.

Qualifications

• Experience in mechanical assembly or manufacturing.
• Ability to read and work from engineering drawings.
• Strong problem-solving skills for build issues.
• Excellent attention to detail and workmanship.
• Ability to maintain strict cleanliness standards.
• Experience using hand tools and workshop equipment.

Responsibilities

• Assemble cryogenic systems from drawings and build information.
• Fit pipework, valves, vacuum components and mechanical assemblies.
• Perform vacuum and helium leak testing of components and assemblies.
• Prepare and handle components for high and UHV applications.
• Maintain cleanliness to prevent contamination of vacuum-critical parts.
• Carry out mechanical fitting, drilling, tapping and basic machining as required.
• Operate manual mills and lathes for simple machining.
• Follow route cards and manufacturing instructions and record checks.
• Identify and resolve build problems and escalate when needed.
• Perform rework and modifications as required.
