The Opportunity
We are looking for an experienced Mechanical Technician to join the Operations & Maintenance team at an Energy from Waste facility in Slough.
Mechanical Technician Responsibilities
- Carry out planned and reactive mechanical maintenance and repairs across plant systems and equipment.
- Diagnose mechanical faults and implement effective repairs.
- Inspect, lubricate, adjust and maintain equipment to maximise plant reliability.
- Work across equipment including conveyors, gearboxes, valves, steam systems and hydraulic systems.
- Plan, execute and document maintenance activities.
- Conduct risk assessments and ensure work is completed in accordance with safe systems of work and HSEQ procedures.
- Support planned shutdowns and outage maintenance activities.
- Identify and report plant defects, hazards and areas of non-compliance.
- Participate in HSE inspections, audits and safety meetings.
- Work closely with operations and other maintenance disciplines to minimise plant downtime.
- Contribute to a strong safety-first culture across the facility.
Mechanical Technician Background
To be considered, you should have:
- A recognised Mechanical Engineering apprenticeship or equivalent - essential.
- Mechanical maintenance experience within a heavy industrial or process environment.
- Strong knowledge of gearboxes, conveyors, valves, steam systems and hydraulics.
- Experience in fault finding, preventative maintenance, maintenance planning and outage support.
- Previous experience within Energy from Waste, power generation, biomass, petrochemical, manufacturing or another heavy process environment would be highly advantageous.
- IOSH Managing Safely and/or an HNC/HND in Engineering would be desirable.
