Job description

About The Role

Be Part of Something New – Join Skelton Grange as a Mechanical Technician

This is your chance to get in at the ground level of something big. Skelton Grange is our newest state-of-the-art energy-from-waste facility – and it’s just becoming operational.

As a Mechanical Technician, you’ll play a critical role in ensuring the reliability and performance of this brand-new site. From day one, you’ll be hands-on with cutting-edge equipment and systems, helping to embed safe, efficient, and proactive maintenance practices that set the standard for years to come. What Will You Be Doing?

As a Mechanical Technician, you’ll tackle a mix of planned, preventative, and reactive maintenance across all mechanical systems. Your focus: ensuring the plant operates at peak performance while meeting the highest safety and compliance standards.

Expect plenty of variety in your day-to-day, including:

  • Planning and co-ordinating daily mechanical maintenance tasks, as well as supporting outage scheduling and execution.

  • Getting hands-on with mechanical equipment – carrying out diagnostics, repairs, modifications, and installations.

  • Taking part in technical investigations and safety reviews, helping to identify root causes and long-term solutions.

  • Preparing and managing work control packs using our maintenance management system, ensuring smooth workflow and strong documentation.

  • Logging all activity using a maintenance reporting system to build a full maintenance history and highlight future needs.

  • Interpreting technical drawings, schematics, and specifications to deliver effective maintenance and repairs.

  • Being part of our emergency response team – providing off-duty cover and responding to urgent plant issues when needed.
