Job summary

Tradebe is seeking a Maintenance Technician at our Glasgow site. You will ensure maintenance is carried out per procedures, keep records, and work with the Maintenance Manager to plan shutdowns and improvements.

The role requires a recognised mechanical apprenticeship or equivalent, heavy engineering maintenance experience, fault finding, and drawing interpretation. You will contribute to safety, training of personnel, and stock replenishment; benefits include a competitive salary up to £33,660,

Qualifications

• Recognised mechanical apprenticeship or equivalent.
• Maintenance experience in a heavy engineering environment.
• Able to fault find and repair on various pieces of mechanical equipment.
• Ability to read and understand general arrangement and detailed drawings.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Ensure that all planned maintenance is carried out in accordance with the relevant procedures.
• Keep and maintain all maintenance records for the site.
• Proactively identify issues and liaison with Maintenance Manager to plan ahead of shutdowns.
• Propose solutions to potential issues with the site and work with others to implement them.
• Detail problems and relay information to the Maintenance Manager on a daily basis.
• Inform the Maintenance Manager of any health and safety breaches and make safe where possible.
• Assist with training of personnel on the plant.
• Ensure spares are stocked and reordered as needed.
• Keep plant areas safe and tidy after work.
• Work during weekly shutdowns and organise required resources.
• Guide/train plant operators in routine maintenance duties.
• Ability to work unsupervised and as part of a team.

What will you do? Make an impact!

• Ensure that all planned maintenance is carried out in accordance with the relevant procedures that are in place.
• Keep and maintain all maintenance records for the site ensuring that all relevant documentation is filled in and filed in the appropriate manner.
• Take a positive approach to issues that may occur on the plant and detail this to the Maintenance Manager, so that plans can be made in advance of a planned shut-down to remedy the problem.
• Have a proactive approach and propose solutions on potential issues around the site and work with other personnel to find solutions.
• Have a proactive approach and forward looking mentality in identifying problems that may occur and propose solutions to rectify these issues before they endanger the running of the process.
• Detailing all problems and relaying information on all aspects of the plant, on a daily basis to the Maintenance Manager.
• Inform the Maintenance Manager of any breach of health and safety around the plant and make safe again if possible.
• Assist with the training of personnel on the plant when required, ensuring that all operators are trained in accordance with site procedures.
• Ensure that all maintenance spares are replenished before stock runs out; this can be done by informing the Maintenance Manager that these items need re-ordering.
• Ensure that all areas of the plant are kept in a safe manner whilst working and that the area is left in a safe state and tidy afterwards.
• Work on the plant during weekly shutdown periods and work with the Maintenance Manager to organise the appropriate resources needed.
• Guide/trainplant operators when needed in their routine maintenance duties.
• Ability to work unsupervised and function as part of a team

Do you have what it takes?

• Recognised Mechanical apprenticeship or similar experience
• Maintenance experience in a heavy engineering environment
• Able to fault find and repair on various pieces of mechanical equipment
• The ability to understand general arrangement and detailed drawings
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Welding skills would be advantageous
• Electrical skills would be advantageous
• Computer Literate
• Good communication skills
• Experience of continuous processing equipment
• A good understanding of operations and maintenance, steam and hydraulic systems
