Astute is partnering with a leading Energy from Waste servicing company to recruit a Mechanical Technician based in the East Midlands. The permanent role is hybrid with UK travel, offering around £55,000 plus overtime and flexible working arrangements.

Apprentice-trained candidates with experience in power generation and Biomass/Energy from Waste plants are encouraged to apply. The position requires site visits, coordination with the Site Supervisor and cross-team collaboration.

Qualifications

• Apprentice-trained mechanical engineer with an NVQ Level 3 or equivalent.
• Experience in power generation or heavy industrial settings.
• Experience on Biomass or Energy from Waste power stations.

Responsibilities

• Carry out mechanical maintenance across Energy from Waste power stations.
• Define scopes of work with the Site Supervisor and plan outages.
• Coordinate workloads and resources with the site team.
• Ensure compliance with health and safety and quality procedures.
• Prepare RAMS and safety documentation as required.
• Coordinate with clients, partners and suppliers to deliver projects.

Astute's Power team is exclusively partnering with a leading Energy from Waste servicing company in the UK to recruit a Mechanical Technician to join the team, based in the East Midlands. This permanent role is hybrid, with travel required UK wide and offers c. £55,000 plus overtime and flexible working arrangements.

Responsibilities Of The Mechanical Technician

Reporting to the Project Manager you will:

• Carry out mechanical maintenance activities across various Energy from Waste power stations, including major servicing works, planned outages and general maintenance.
• Conduct site inspections and define detailed scopes of work in collaboration with the Site Supervisor.
• Execute maintenance activities independently and as part of a wider site team, coordinating workloads and resources where required.
• Ensure compliance with internal processes, health and safety requirements and quality management procedures.
• Prepare Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS) and other relevant Health and Safety documentation.
• Coordinate activities with internal teams, site supervisors, clients, external partners and suppliers to ensure effective project delivery.

Required Qualifications And Experience

To be considered, you must have:

• An apprentice trained mechanical engineer with an NVQ Level 3 or equivalent.
• Experience working as a mechanical technician in the power industry, or a similar heavy industrial setting.
• Previous experience working on a Biomass or Energy from Waste power station

Desirable Experience

It would be an advantage, but is not essential, to have:

• Previous experience working on projects managing contractors

Salary And Benefits

• Salary: £55,000
• Contract: Permanent
• Working pattern: hybrid working, with weekends and nights sometimes required
• Location: East Midlands, hybrid with UK travel
