Job description

Catfoss Recruitment Ltd is currently in partnership with a globally respected R&D company that is seeking to recruit a Mechanical Technician on a permanent basis to join their expanding team.

We are looking for an experienced and motivated Mechanical Technician to work as part of the integrated Engineering Services Team. The role reports to the Team Leader and involves carrying out planned and reactive maintenance, as well as installation and modification of the facility.

Mechanical Technician

Typical working hours: Full time, 40 hours per week, on a Double Days shift pattern (06:30 - 14:30 and 14:00 - 22:00 on a rotating basis).

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out inspections, maintenance, and repairs of equipment involved with the testing facility and mechanical services (planned maintenance).
• Responsible for repairing plant and equipment during breakdowns, including fault-finding in accordance with supervisory instructions (reactive maintenance).
• Install new plant and equipment following supervisory instructions and contribute ideas for design and implementation improvements.
• Ensure compliance with Health, Safety, and Environmental procedures, including risk assessments and method statements.
• Adhere to site security procedures.
• Participate as a member of the Emergency Response team.

Requirements

• Mechanical Apprenticeship or significant demonstrated experience in installing, maintaining, repairing, and inspecting industrial plant equipment and systems, such as:
• High-pressure compressed air systems
• Water cooling and treatment systems
• Plant lubrication and hydraulic systems
• Mechanical machinery and infrastructure, including rotating and reciprocating components (gears, chains, linkages, actuating rods)

Additional qualities include being a team player capable of coaching and mentoring less experienced employees, flexible with a positive attitude, detail-oriented, motivated to improve skills, and able to communicate effectively.

The successful candidate must meet security clearance requirements, including five years of continual UK residency.
