RESPONSIBILITIES

As Senior Quality Engineer, you will play a critical role in managing quality processes, leading a team of professionals, and driving improvements in product quality and efficiency. This role requires a strong leader with experience in quality assurance, problem-solving methodologies, and effective communication across teams and with customers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and guide employees within the SQA and Production Quality teams, ensuring effective collaboration and alignment with organizational goals.
  • Quality Standards Development: Define and implement local Business Unit (BU) quality standards, including work instructions, limit sample lists, and inspection plans, in coordination with BU Production Quality.:
  • Conduct weekly quality improvement meetings to review product quality metrics, scrap rates, and error analyses.
  • Drive the Continuous Improvement Process (CIP) and corrective action implementation to reduce scrap and improve quality outcomes.
  • Lead and coordinate the 8D problem-solving process for quality complaints.
  • Generate and present 8D reports, ensuring thorough root cause analysis and effective corrective actions.
  • Attend daily Production Quality meetings and monthly Team Leader meetings with senior management to report KPIs.

Graduate Mechanical Design Engineer Role Overview

With full support of the team, the Graduate Mechanical Design Engineer will focus on mechanical design efforts from concept to completion—creating CAD models using Fusion 360 and fully detailed drawings, working with cross-functional teams (electrical, fabrication, control systems), and supporting project delivery across automation and bespoke machinery sectors.

  • £28,000, rising to £32,000 after 6 months
  • Monday to Thursday 9am – 3:00pm, with a 12pm finish on Fridays (with flexibility)

Graduate Mechanical Design Engineer Candidate Requirements

  • BEng/MEng in Mechanical Engineering or similar.
  • Any fabrication, tolerancing, and material selection experience would be useful.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes: CNC machining, folding, welding.
  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
  • Problem-solving mindset with attention to detail.
  • Must have permanent UK Right to Work

Graduate Mechanical Design Engineer Key Responsibilities

  • The Graduate Mechanical Design Engineer will develop mechanical concepts, 3D models, and detailed drawings using Fusion 360.
  • Generate fabrication and assembly drawings for machined/fabricated parts.
  • Collaborate with electrical, software, and production teams to ensure seamless integration.
  • Create designs aligned with customer and project requirements, safety standards.
  • Design reviews and support prototypes and testing.
  • Liaise with suppliers/vendors for component specification and selection.
  • Identify and resolve design/manufacturing issues.
  • Support reverse-engineering projects using 3D scanning and CAD.
  • Stay abreast of mechanical and automation industry trends.

This is a superb opportunity for a Plant Fitter to join the team on a Morning shift 6am – 2.30pm Monday – Thursday and 6am – 1.30pm on a Friday. The successful candidate will be responsible for the manufacture, modification, maintenance, and repair, of a variety of equipment and ancillaries, ensuring that the fleet remains in prime working condition.

  • 39 hours a week, Monday to Friday.

Key Duties

  • As a Plant Fitter, your key responsibilities will include:
  • Using appropriate processes and techniques, you will read and interpret engineering drawings to complete manufacture and modification as requested.
  • Experience and skill of fault-finding, maintenance and repair of heavy-duty construction plant and hydraulic systems would be ideal.

Requirements of the Plant Fitter

To excel in this role, you must meet the following criteria:

  • You must hold a full UK driving licence and a Level 2 qualification in Plant Maintenance or equivalent.
  • This is a fitter role for the rigs not the factory, so previous experience is needed in heavy plant/ construction equipment.
  • Although this role is not a mobile fitter role, they will be expected to go out to sites to attend breakdowns and general repairs, so need to have a driving licence.
  • Experience with JCB’s and CAT
  • Welding and fabrication

This role is commutable from Derby, Burton upon Trent, Swadlincote, Tamworth and Leicester.
