Job summary

SLB in Aberdeen is seeking an experienced Mechanical Technician to ensure on-time equipment delivery and maximize asset reliability within the Maintenance Base. You will perform preventive and corrective maintenance, interpret technical documentation, and support improvements across the base.

The role requires a minimum of 3 years’ experience and a mechanical qualification such as HNC/HND, SVQ/NVQ, or City & Guilds. Collaboration and safety are core priorities at SLB.

Qualifications

• 3+ years experience in a Mechanical Technician or similar role.
• Mechanical qualification such as HNC/HND, SVQ/NVQ, City & Guilds, or equivalent certification.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings, manuals and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Maintain equipment per maintenance programs and reliability-centred maintenance practices.
• Record materials, labour, movements, work orders, parts usage and history in CMMS.
• Apply standard work practices to ensure safe, efficient maintenance activities.
• Support improvement initiatives to boost asset utilization and reduce service costs.
• Contribute to reducing downtime and improving turnaround times for equipment.

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Technician to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the on‑time delivery of equipment to meet operational demands while maximizing asset reliability, maintenance efficiency, and productivity within the Maintenance Base.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain assigned equipment in accordance with established maintenance programs and reliability‑centred maintenance practices.
• Record materials, labour costs, equipment movements, work orders, parts usage, and maintenance history accurately within maintenance management systems.
• Apply standard work practices to ensure safe, efficient, and high‑quality maintenance activities.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing asset utilization and reducing the cost of service delivery.
• Contribute to improving equipment turnaround times by reducing downtime associated with maintenance activities, parts availability, and repair processes.
• Assist in driving maintenance efficiency and productivity improvements across the Maintenance Base.
• Participate in repair and reuse initiatives and other asset optimization projects.
• Support equipment failure investigations and root cause analysis activities as required.
• Maintain compliance with all competency, quality, health, safety, and environmental requirements.

Requirements

• Minimum 3 years of experience in a Mechanical Technician, Maintenance Technician, or similar role.
• Mechanical qualification such as HNC/HND, SVQ/NVQ, City & Guilds, or equivalent technical certification.
• Strong mechanical fault‑finding, troubleshooting, and repair skills.
• Experience maintaining mechanical equipment in an industrial, manufacturing, energy, or oil and gas environment.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings, manuals, and maintenance procedures.
• Strong team‑working skills with a proactive approach to continuous improvement.
