Job summary

Equans is seeking an Assistant Technical Services Manager (Mechanical) in Smethwick to join the MMUH Estates team. The role oversees day-to-day operations, plans preventative maintenance via Maximo, and coordinates with subcontractors for cost-effective service.

You will work on-site, deputise for the Technical Services Manager when needed, and pursue Authorised Person status across key disciplines. The position offers a full-time schedule of 37.5 hours per week, with a competitive salary and

Qualifications

• City and Guilds or equivalent qualification in a relevant discipline.
• High level of verbal, written and numeric skills; must be computer literate.
• DBS Basic check required; ability to pass is essential.

Responsibilities

• Directly accountable for day-to-day matters to the Technical Services Manager.
• Deputise for the Technical Services Manager during absence from site as directed by Senior Management Team.
• Plan and schedule all planned preventative maintenance activities using the Maximo system, with consideration to statute and guidance.
• Assist the Technical Services Manager to undertake negotiations with subcontractors and suppliers to provide a cost-effective service.
• Ensure that all staff and subcontractors’ response and rectification times are met and repairs are undertaken diligently.
• Review the quality of work undertaken by directly employed staff and contractors.
• Participate as a member of the Estates Team by achieving Authorised Person status in key disciplines (Pressure Systems, Ventilation, Medical Gas).
• Be available for on-call rota as required, including Winter Maintenance.
