Job summary

Babcock is recruiting for a Mechanical Technical Officer to manage lifecycle support for Test and Measurement Equipment at the Donnington site. You will work across engineering, maintenance, logistics, procurement, and QA to deliver compliant, value-for-money support for vital defence assets.

The role is full-time and on-site, requiring SC clearance and a UK driving licence. 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with a strong focus on documentation, supplier management and cross-functional

The role

This is an exciting opportunity to take ownership of specialist equipment throughout its entire lifecycle, helping to ensure vital defence assets remain available, compliant, and ready to support operations across the Royal Navy, Army, and Royal Air Force.

As a Mechanical Technical Officer, you'll provide through-life technical support for Test and Measurement Equipment, working across engineering, maintenance, logistics, procurement, quality assurance, and supplier management. You'll join a specialist team responsible for delivering effective, value-for-money support solutions while maintaining the highest technical standards.

Day-to-day, you’ll:

• Manage the lifecycle support of Test and Measurement Equipment.
• Coordinate maintenance, calibration, inventory, and logistics activities.
• Produce and maintain technical documentation and engineering records.
• Support procurement activities and supplier performance management.
• Monitor equipment compliance, availability, and ongoing support requirements.

This is a full-time, permanent role based onsite in Donnington, working 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday.

Essential experience of the Mechanical Technical Officer:

• Experience working within a project-based environment.
• Experience producing or managing technical documentation.
• Strong organisational and stakeholder management skills.
• Experience supporting engineering or technical equipment activities.
• Ability to work effectively across multiple workstreams and priorities.

Qualifications for the Mechanical Technical Officer:

• Mechanical, Electrical, or Electronics apprenticeship.
• Engineering qualification to ONC level or equivalent.
• Full UK Driving Licence.
