The Role

As a Electrical Controls - Mechanical Engineer, you’ll have the opportunity to make a tangible impact—on national security, on engineering excellence, and on your own professional growth.

Day‑to‑day, you’ll be at the forefront of designing and configuring mechanical handling systems that support some of the UK’s most critical defence infrastructure. You’ll play a pivotal role in ensuring the safety, reliability, and innovation of lifting equipment and crane systems across our site.

  • Manage technical queries and design deviations to maintain design intent.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure compliance and innovation.

This role is full time, 35 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements with an expectation of 3 days in the office/onsite.

Essential Experience
  • Demonstrated experience in the design and substantiation of mechanical systems and components.
  • Strong understanding of engineering regulations, legislation, and standards.
  • Proficiency in hand calculations and finite element analysis (FEA).
  • Ability to interpret and produce mechanical and electrical engineering drawings.
  • Familiarity with crane systems, lifting equipment, and mechanical handling safety.
Qualifications
  • A degree in Mechanical Engineering is essential.
  • Professional membership (e.g., IMechE) – Desirable.
