Job summary

NES Fircroft is supporting a leading chemical manufacturing client in recruiting a Mechanical Technical Authority. This senior role provides site-wide mechanical leadership, governance, and asset integrity assurance across a major manufacturing site.

The successful candidate will own mechanical standards, oversee pressure systems and rotating equipment, and provide technical input into MOC, CAPEX, and contractor activities while ensuring compliance with COMAH and PSSR standards.

Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• CEng or working towards Chartered status.
• 10+ years’ experience in high-hazard/process environments.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical integrity and rotating equipment.
• Experience with COMAH and PSSR standards.

Responsibilities

• Own mechanical engineering standards, specifications and technical assurance.
• Lead mechanical integrity across pressure systems, piping and fixed/rotating equipment.
• Oversee asset integrity, reliability, RBI, corrosion and safety-critical equipment.
• Provide technical input into MOC, CAPEX, projects and contractor activities.
• Support COMAH, PSSR and relevant engineering standards and legislation.
• Lead technical investigations, root cause analysis and engineering improvements.
• Act as a senior mechanical SME, providing guidance and mentoring across the site.

Experience & Qualifications:

• Strong knowledge of mechanical integrity, pressure systems and fixed/rotating equipment.
• Experience with COMAH, PSSR and relevant engineering standards.
• Strong technical leadership and stakeholder management skills.
