Job summary

BAE Systems in Rochester is seeking a Mechanical Team Leader to guide a team of engineers in development, integration and operation of mechanical systems for advanced defense and aerospace programs. You will lead design activities and ensure robust project execution onsite.

The role requires hands-on leadership, experience in concept-to-production development, and familiarity with CREO, TeamCenter, DOORs and JIRA. relocation package may be available.

Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent qualifications and experience.
• Proven track record in product development from concept to production.
• Previous experience in team leadership and/or project management.
• Competence in CAD tools, ideally CREO, along with experience in TeamCenter, DOORs, and JIRA.
• Experience in avionic systems, optical displays, mechatronics, and related fields is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and present Mechanical Development Plans and Design Scheme Data Packs for internal and customer reviews.
• Peer-check the work of other mechanical engineers, including designs, calculations, and technical reports.
• Chair design review panels at both functional and project levels.
• Prepare project plans, direct team implementation, and monitor progress against budgets.
• Devise and maintain resource plans, managing the allocation of Mechanical Engineering resources.
• Support new bids by preparing estimates and generating proposals.
• Conduct Performance and Development Reviews for the Mechanical Engineering Team.
• Ensure adherence to departmental and company policies and procedures.
