Job summary

Design Services Ltd is seeking a Mechanical Stress Engineer for a long-term contracting role, with hybrid working and a 4-day week (40 hours). The position may require SC clearance or BPSS screening. Candidates should be able to meet UK security requirements and deliver rigorous analysis across the project lifecycle.

The role involves verification/validation of calculations, review of analyses, and supporting seismic, thermal, fluid, and performance analyses within a complex engineering team.

Qualifications

  • Experience applying BS 2573, BS EN 13001, structural Eurocodes and related industry requirements.
  • Experience producing and checking hand calculation reports using classical hand calculations and finite element analysis (FEA).
  • Right to work in the UK and ability to acquire security clearance if required.

Overview

Mechanical Stress Engineer. This is a long-term contracting role that can be operated Outside IR35, with hybrid working and a 4-day week (40 hours).

The role may require candidates who can gain SC clearance or pass an initial BPSS application.

Responsibilities
  • Undertake verification and validation activities; review calculations and analyses completed by others to ensure accuracy, quality, and compliance throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Support wider analytical activities as required, including seismic assessments, thermal analyses, fluid analyses, and operation performance analyses.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Experience applying relevant engineering standards and design codes, including BS 2573, BS EN 13001, structural Eurocodes, and associated industry requirements.
  • Experience producing and checking hand calculation reports using both classical hand calculations and finite element analysis (FEA).
  • Right to work in the UK and ability to acquire security clearance if required.
