BMSL Group Ltd is recruiting a Mechanical Site Manager to lead heating system upgrades and heat pump installations on a school decarbonisation programme in Carmarthen and across South Wales. The role focuses on plantroom refurbishments, live environments, and coordinating specialist subcontractors with safety and quality at the forefront.

You will advance a programme of mechanical building services in occupied educational settings, delivering projects on time, within budget, and to specification.

Qualifications

• Essential: proven site management of mechanical refurbishment projects.
• Strong knowledge of commercial heating systems and plantrooms.
• Experience delivering ASHP/heat pump upgrades in live environments.
• Strong subcontractor management and coordination skills.

Mechanical Site Manager - School Decarbonisation & Heat Pump Projects

Carmarthen, West Wales

Permanent (or long-term freelance)

A growing South Wales contractor specialising in refurbishment, energy efficiency and decarbonisation projects is looking to appoint an experienced Mechanical Site Manager to join its team on a permanent basis.

This is a specialist role requiring a strong mechanical building services background and proven experience delivering heating and plantroom projects. Applicants without mechanical M&E experience are unlikely to be considered.

The Opportunity

You will take the lead on the delivery of a significant school decarbonisation programme across Carmarthenshire.

Your initial projects will involve the refurbishment and upgrade of heating systems within three schools, replacing existing oil-fired systems with modern heat pump solutions. Works will include plantroom modifications, mechanical services upgrades and the coordination of specialist subcontractors within live educational environments.

Following these projects, you will move onto additional refurbishment and decarbonisation schemes as part of a secured pipeline of work across South Wales.

Essential Requirements

• Air Source Heat Pump (ASHP) project experience
• Previous experience as a Site Manager delivering mechanical building services projects
• Strong knowledge of commercial heating systems, plantrooms and associated mechanical services
• Experience managing heating upgrades, boiler replacements, plantroom refurbishments or heat pump installations
• Mechanical background gained with an M&E contractor or building services contractor
• Experience delivering public sector refurbishment projects
• Experience managing subcontractors on live construction projects

Desirable

• Previous build experience within the education sector experience (Schools / Colleges etc)
• Ground Source Heat Pump (GSHP) project experience
• Mechanical engineering qualifications
• Knowledge of energy efficiency, retrofit or decarbonisation programmes
