Job summary

RG Setsquare in Stevenage is seeking a Mechanical Shift Engineer to support pressure systems. You will carry out planned and reactive maintenance on steam and boiler equipment, and act as Mechanical AP across the site.

The role requires strong knowledge of PPM, RAMS, permits to work, and fault diagnosis. You will work days and nights in a technically challenging environment with training and long-term development opportunities. Strong communication and problem solving skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Mechanical Engineer or Mechanical Shift Engineer.
• Current or previous experience as a Mechanical Authorised Person (AP).
• Strong steam, boiler and pressure system experience.
• Relevant mechanical engineering qualification or time-served experience.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventive and reactive mechanical maintenance.
• Act as Mechanical AP for steam, boilers and pressure systems.
• Manage mechanical isolations and Permit to Work procedures.
• Review RAMS and ensure safe systems of work are followed.
• Maintain pumps, valves, boilers and associated mechanical plant.
• Diagnose faults and carry out effective repairs.
• Respond to breakdowns and engineering issues during shifts.
• Support statutory inspections and pressure systems compliance.
• Maintain accurate maintenance and compliance records.
• Work closely with contractors, engineers and other disciplines.
• Ensure all work is completed safely and to required standards.
