Job summary

Falcon Green, one of Europe\'s leading data centre contractors, seeks an experienced Mechanical Project Manager for major mission-critical projects in Milan, Italy. You will lead a team of engineers, manage safety, QA, and the programme, ensuring on-time delivery.

The role requires a solid mechanical engineering background, 5+ years in similar roles, and eligibility to work in Italy (EU passport or Italian residence permit). Experience in data centres or similar complex sectors is preferred.

Qualifications

  • Third-level qualification in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
  • Proven experience coordinating multidisciplinary teams on large-scale construction projects.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in a Mechanical Engineer or Mechanical Project Manager role.
  • Experience on data centre, pharmaceutical, or other complex MEP projects is advantageous.
  • Strong skills in MS Word, Excel, AutoCAD, and MS Project.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee site safety management with the project team and safety file.
  • Lead engineers and supervisors; coordinate with disciplines to avoid delays.
  • Manage QA activities for the mechanical scope; track QA docs.
  • Monitor and manage the project programme with team, engineers, client.
  • Control and track all project costs; align with budget.
  • Supervise daily site operations for mechanical works.
  • Manage subcontractor performance; run weekly progress meetings.
  • Maintain snagging system; weekly punch lists.
  • Submit labour and subcontractor hours to time administrator.
  • Attend Site Meetings and project reviews.
  • Support close-out of deliverables: Final Accounts, O&M Manuals, etc.
  • Upload weekly progress reports to Filekey; summarize progress and risks.
  • Prepare and submit weekly progress reports; flag issues.
  • Ensure subcontractor docs are archived.
  • Provide weekly safety statistics and labour forecasts.
  • Hold weekly commercial meetings to capture variations.
  • Ensure KPIs are achieved.
  • Support development of company procedures and practices.
  • Manage changes with cost/programme impacts.

Job description

Join one of Europe's leading data centre contractors, seeking an experienced Mechanical Project Manager for major mission-critical projects in Milan, Italy.

As the Mechanical Project Manager, you will join an innovative, forward-thinking contractor delivering some of Europe's most complex and high-profile data centre developments.

Please note: Only candidates who hold an EU passport or have a valid Italian residence permit allowing them to work in Italy will be considered for this role.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in delivering large-scale mechanical installations, with a focus on quality, safety, and programme delivery. Previous data centre experience is highly desirable, although candidates with experience in other complex sectors such as pharmaceuticals, industrial, or advanced manufacturing will also be considered.

Responsibilities
  • Oversee site safety management in collaboration with the project team, including the setup, maintenance, and close-out of the project safety file.
  • Lead a team of engineers and supervisors, coordinating with other disciplines to avoid delays or programme impacts.
  • Manage site Quality Assurance (QA) activities related to the mechanical scope, ensuring proper setup, tracking, and close-out of QA documentation.
  • Monitor and manage the project programme in line with the project team, consulting engineers, and client expectations.
  • Control and track all project-related costs, ensuring alignment with budgetary targets.
  • Supervise daily site operations, ensuring efficient coordination and execution of mechanical works.
  • Manage subcontractor performance, tracking progress against programme and manpower targets while ensuring weekly documented progress meetings are held.
  • Maintain the snagging system, ensuring supervisors provide updated punch lists on a weekly basis.
  • Submit direct labour and subcontractor hours to the time administrator for centralised tracking.
  • Attend key project meetings, including Site Meetings, Internal Project Reviews, Engineering Reviews, Planning & Coordination Meetings, and Handover Meetings.
  • Support the successful close-out of all project deliverables, including Final Accounts, O&M Manuals, Punch Lists, Safety and QA Files, relocation of materials and equipment, and completion of the Project Plan.
  • Work closely with the Project QS to maintain the Filekey system by uploading weekly internal progress reports summarising WBS-based progress, risks, and project concerns.
  • Prepare and submit weekly progress reports to the Project Manager, highlighting access issues, delays, design queries, third‑party constraints, and overall project status.
  • Ensure subcontractor documentation, including safety files and quality records, is maintained and archived correctly.
  • Provide weekly safety statistics and labour forecasts.
  • Hold weekly commercial meetings with the QS/commercial team to ensure variations are captured and submitted to the client.
  • Ensure internal and external Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) are consistently achieved.
  • Support the development and implementation of company procedures and best practices.
  • Manage project changes effectively, ensuring impacts on cost and programme are identified, documented, and communicated.
Requirements
  • Relevant trade background supported by a third-level qualification in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Proven experience coordinating multidisciplinary teams on large-scale construction projects.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in a Mechanical Engineer or Mechanical Project Manager position.
  • Previous experience delivering mission-critical, data centre, pharmaceutical, or other complex MEP projects is advantageous.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, AutoCAD, and MS Project.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and organisational skills.
  • EU passport holder or valid Italian residence permit with the right to work in Italy — this is essential.
  • Based in Milan or willing and able to work on projects in Milan, Italy.
