Job summary

Adapt Recruitment is seeking a Mechanical Project Manager to lead mechanical projects for a growing engineering contractor across the UK Water sector. You will manage multiple projects, coordinate site teams, suppliers and client representatives, and monitor progress to ensure safety, on-time delivery and budget adherence.

You will oversee procurement, site visits, reporting, and liaison with clients and internal teams, with travel to sites across the UK and a driving licence as a requirement.

Qualifications

  • Experience delivering mechanical projects within the UK Water industry.
  • Mechanical engineering background.
  • Experience as Mechanical Project Manager or Project Engineer/Site Manager aiming to progress into Project Management.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Organised, proactive and capable of working independently.
  • Willingness to travel to sites across the UK.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.

Responsibilities

  • Managing multiple mechanical projects from award through to completion.
  • Coordinating site teams, subcontractors, suppliers and client representatives.
  • Planning and monitoring project programmes to ensure works are delivered safely, on time and within budget.
  • Managing project costs, variations and commercial performance.
  • Carrying out regular site visits across the UK to oversee project progress and resolve issues.
  • Ensuring all works are completed in accordance with Health & Safety legislation and company procedures.
  • Producing project reports, programme updates and project documentation.
  • Liaising with clients, consultants and internal departments throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Managing procurement of materials, plant and subcontractors where required.
  • Supporting project commissioning, handover and completion.
