Job summary

1st Step Solutions in London is seeking a Mechanical Project Manager for a prestigious data centre project. You will lead the operational project team, manage Building Services installation, and ensure delivery on time, within budget and to the client’s standards.

The role requires a proven track record in project management within the data centre sector or similar large-scale schemes, with a focus on safety, profitability and smooth handover at project completion.

Qualifications

• Proven track record in project management on large-scale building services projects.
• Experience in Data Centre sectors or similar multi-million £ schemes.
• Experience delivering projects to time, cost, safety and quality targets.
• Desirable HNC/HND Building Services qualification.
• Mechanical qualifications are preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversee operational project team to meet programme, cost, safety and quality objectives.
• Take overall responsibility for Building Services installation.
• Deliver quality installation aligned with client expectations while maximizing profitability.
• Ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget, managing costs.
• Manage staff performance with clear roles and responsibilities.
• Promote Health & Safety at all times and implement risk mitigation.
• Share best practices and drive innovation on the project.
• Coordinate commissioning and smooth final handover.

1st Step Solutions are supporting a leading Tier 1 M&E Contractor who have an opportunity for a Mechanical Project Manager to be based on a newData Centre project.

To be successful in this role, you will have a proven track record in project management, particularly within the Data Centre sector or similar related projects with values between £40+ million. Ideally, you will have experience of demonstrating responsibility for full Contract Management at this level.

Responsibilities:

• The primary focus of this role will include the overall supervision and performance of the operational project team to ensure that all activities meet the programme, cost, safety and quality objectives of the Project.
• Overall responsibility of the Building Services installation on your projects.
• Deliver a quality installation, in line with client's expectations, maximise the profitability and driving our cost whilst maintaining our standards.
• Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget to agreed standards and ensure the project budget and costs are managed effectively.
• Manage staff performance on the project by ensuring they have clear roles and responsibilities.
• Promote Health & Safety at all times, ensuring risks are identified and mitigation measures are put in place.
• Share best practice and promote innovation.
• Be responsible for commissioning a smooth final handover.

Requirements:

• HNC/HND Building Services qualification or above - Desirable.
