Gibson Recruitment Limited is seeking a Mechanical Project Manager for a permanent position in the Central Belt of Scotland. The role oversees the full lifecycle of mechanical projects, coordinating engineers, designers, subcontractors and procurement to deliver on time and within budget.

You will develop and control Design, Procurement, Construction and Commissioning programmes, manage costs, and report progress while fostering strong client and stakeholder relationships.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Building Services or a pipework-related apprenticeship.
  • Demonstrable experience of managing mechanical projects.
  • Strong knowledge of building services and HVAC systems.
  • Excellent organisational and stakeholder management skills.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all stages of the project lifecycle from conception to commissioning.
  • Lead project teams including engineers, designers, technicians and subcontractors.
  • Develop, manage and maintain DPC&C programmes in Microsoft Project.
  • Control mechanical budgets, procurement, and final accounts to meet targets.
  • Chair weekly subcontractor progress meetings and record minutes.
  • Ensure on-time delivery within budget and manage project risks.

Our client is a very well-respected contractor who have demonstrated longevity in the UK construction industry. This growing Specialist Contractor has ambitious expansion plans and is now seeking a talented Mechanical Project Manager to join their team on a permanent basis.

Projects are spread across the M8 corridor between Glasgow and Edinburgh, so applicants should live in the central belt within commuting distance of the east and west.

This position represents a fantastic opportunity for an ambitious, highly motivated and technical Mechanical Project Manager to join an established Scottish contractor.

Your New Role:
  • Overseeing all stages of the project lifecycle, including conception, design, development, and implementation
  • Managing and coordinating project teams, including engineers, designers, technicians, and subcontractors
  • Develop, manage, and maintain Design, Procurement, Construction and Commissioning (DPC&C) programmes in Microsoft Project
  • Responsible for full mechanical cost control, including budgeting, estimating, package procurement, subcontract account management, and agreement of final accounts to meet project targets.
  • Chairing weekly subcontractor progress meetings and keeping accurate meeting minutes.
  • Ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget.
  • Identifying project risks, implementing mitigation strategies, and resolving issues or delays
  • Managing project resources and materials to support successful delivery
  • Developing and maintaining strong relationships with clients, contractors, and key stakeholders
  • Ensuring compliance with health & safety requirements and relevant industry standards
  • Completing tender reviews and comparison reports to document the equalisation of compliant tender returns.
  • Producing building services quality plans (ITPs), including detailed commissioning plans and schedules
The successful candidate will possess:
  • Degree in Building Services or a pipework-related apprenticeship.
  • Demonstrable experience of managing mechanical projects.
  • An ability to achieve results in a non-adversarial manner.
  • CSCS & SMSTS
  • Strong technical knowledge of building services and HVAC systems
  • Sound industry knowledge and understanding of best practice.
  • Experience managing projects through the full lifecycle, from pre-construction through to delivery.
  • Experience delivering multiple projects concurrently (beneficial)
  • Experience working on fast-track or live operational sites.
  • Excellent organisational, communication, and stakeholder management skills with the ability to track and file information efficiently and effectively.
  • Ambitious and capable, with a professional and articulate manner and a strong drive to deliver results.
  • Able to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
