Job summary

GA Pet Food is offering an engineering apprenticeship role at Plocks Farm. The position supports the installation and dismantling of equipment on site, with training in fabrication, welding, and FLT operation.

The apprentice will work closely with a qualified Mechanical Project Engineer and progress toward a Multi-Skilled Engineer qualification in 2027. The role involves handling machinery installation, banksman duties, basic fabrication, and learning to read drawings.

Qualifications

• Basic mechanical knowledge required.
• Experience using basic power tools is beneficial.
• Willingness to learn; training provided for fabrication machinery and welding.

Responsibilities

• Assisting with machinery installation
• Fabrication and welding – training can be provided
• Provide a banksman role for the movement of goods and equipment on site
• Complete an FLT Driving test to help with the movement of goods and equipment on site
• Be able to use basic fabrication machinery in workshops – training can be provided
• Basic mechanical knowledge, such as understanding drawings and terminology
• Experience in using basic power tools
• The drive to learn new skills and refine existing ones to ensure all work is to the highest standards
• Someone who is confident in working on their own and will take ownership of the role
• Would start with internal training, with the option to look at an external qualification in the future
