Permanent, full-time basis, working 37.5 hours per week. This is a
Glasgow based,
hybrid role with
travel between project sites in the Central Belt area as required. Please note we will be relocating to Stepps within 6 months of you joining.
You will support the safe and successful delivery of mechanical engineering work packages, from site surveys and technical development through procurement, installation, testing, commissioning and handover. Working closely with design colleagues, suppliers, subcontractors and site teams, you will help deliver projects to agreed programme, cost and quality requirements.
This is an opportunity to apply your mechanical expertise to essential infrastructure, develop your project delivery capability and see the results of your work on site.
WGM Engineering is experiencing significant growth across the UK, delivering critical infrastructure projects across the water and industrial sectors. As part of RSK Group, we combine the scale and support of a wider group with the practical, hands on approach of a specialist engineering delivery business.
Our teams work with major clients across regulated environments, supporting safe, sustainable and high quality project delivery. We are focused on building long term capability, strengthening our teams and creating opportunities for people to build meaningful careers.
What You’ll Do:
- Undertake mechanical site surveys to establish project requirements, assess existing equipment and identify installation constraints, access requirements and interfaces with operational assets.
- Review mechanical drawings, specifications and supplier submissions, coordinating technical queries and their resolution with design colleagues.
- Prepare mechanical work scopes, procurement specifications and bills of materials, assessing supplier quotations for technical suitability, scope and delivery requirements.
- Coordinate procurement and delivery of mechanical equipment and materials, including pumps, valves, pipework and associated plant, as required by the project.
- Work with site teams and subcontractors to coordinate mechanical installations, equipment positioning and interfaces with civil, electrical and process works.
- Prepare and review Risk Assessments and Method Statements, working with site and HSEQ teams to support safe systems of work.
- Support the planning of equipment removal, lifting and installation activities with the relevant competent specialists.
- Monitor mechanical package progress, quality and costs, reporting risks, delays, resource requirements and changes to the Senior Project Manager.
- Work closely with clients, suppliers and delivery teams to resolve technical and logistical issues.
- Support inspections, factory and site acceptance testing, mechanical completion checks and commissioning activities, coordinating the identification and close out of defects.
- Coordinate handover documentation, including inspection and test records, commissioning information, as built drawings and operation and maintenance manuals.
What You’ll Bring:
- An HNC, HND or degree in Mechanical Engineering, or a relevant mechanical apprenticeship or trade qualification supported by suitable project delivery experience.
- Experience supporting mechanical projects or installation work packages within an industrial or infrastructure environment.
- Working knowledge of mechanical plant and installations, such as pumps, valves, pipework and associated equipment.
- The ability to interpret mechanical drawings, specifications and technical documentation.
- Experience coordinating suppliers, subcontractors and site activities, with a practical approach to resolving delivery issues.
- An understanding of mechanical isolation, stored energy hazards, safe systems of work and construction health and safety requirements.
- Strong communication and organisational skills, with the ability to manage priorities, maintain accurate records and produce clear progress reports.
- An appreciation of project cost control and confidence using Microsoft Office, including Excel.
- A full driving licence valid for use in the UK and willingness to travel between project sites.
Experience within water and wastewater, utilities, manufacturing, process engineering or other industrial sectors would be particularly relevant. Familiarity with NEC contracts, mechanical testing and commissioning, Microsoft Project or Primavera P6 would be advantageous.
We welcome applications from candidates with relevant transferable mechanical and project delivery experience.
