Job summary

Crown House Technologies (CHt) is seeking a Mechanical Project Engineer to lead mechanical delivery on the Great Grid Project in the UK. You will provide technical oversight from design through installation, mentoring junior engineers and coordinating with project managers, suppliers and design teams.

The role requires a mechanical engineering qualification and experience on large infrastructure projects, with a strong emphasis on safety, quality and collaboration across multidisciplinary teams.

Qualifications

  • A degree, HNC/HND or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services or a related engineering discipline, with relevant experience delivering mechanical engineering packages on large-scale projects.
  • Experience within major infrastructure, energy, utilities, power, industrial or similarly complex engineering environments is advantageous.
  • Strong technical knowledge of mechanical systems, installation methodologies and commissioning processes.

Responsibilities

  • Leading mechanical engineering delivery activities, providing technical oversight from design development through installation, commissioning and handover.
  • Managing and mentoring junior engineers while working closely with project managers, planners, subcontractors, suppliers and design teams to support successful project delivery.
  • Reviewing mechanical designs, specifications and technical information to ensure compliance with project, client and regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinating mechanical activities with other engineering disciplines to identify interfaces, resolve technical challenges and maintain programme requirements.
  • Driving a strong safety culture and ensuring mechanical works are delivered in accordance with health and safety legislation, project requirements and company standards.
  • Identifying opportunities for innovative engineering solutions, modern methods of construction and continuous improvement throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Monitoring quality and technical performance, identifying risks and ensuring appropriate actions are implemented.
  • Supporting testing, commissioning and project close-out activities, including quality assurance, technical documentation and handover.

What You'll Be Doing

What We're Looking For
  • A degree, HNC/HND or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services or a related engineering discipline, together with relevant experience delivering mechanical engineering packages on large-scale projects.
  • Experience within major infrastructure, energy, utilities, power, industrial or similarly complex engineering environments would be advantageous.
  • Strong technical knowledge of mechanical systems, installation methodologies and commissioning processes.
  • Experience coordinating engineering activities across multidisciplinary teams, subcontractors and supply-chain partners.
  • Strong leadership skills, with the ability to support, mentor and guide other members of the engineering team.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the confidence to build effective working relationships across a complex project environment.
  • A strong commitment to safety, quality and engineering excellence.
  • A proactive, collaborative and solutions-focused approach, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and technically demanding environment.
