Job summary

Crown House Technologies, part of the Laing O'Rourke Group, seeks a Mechanical Project Engineer to lead mechanical delivery on the Great Grid Project. You will oversee design through installation, coordinate with multidisciplinary teams and ensure safety, quality and timely delivery on a nationally significant programme.

You will mentor junior engineers and work closely with project managers and suppliers to meet project milestones and regulatory requirements in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• Experience delivering mechanical engineering packages on large-scale projects.
• Strong leadership and mentoring skills.

We're now looking for a skilled and motivated Mechanical Project Engineer to join our delivery team. What you'll be doing:

• Leading mechanical engineering delivery activities, providing technical oversight from design development through installation, commissioning and handover.
• Managing and mentoring junior engineers while working closely with project managers, planners, subcontractors, suppliers and design teams to support successful project delivery.
• Reviewing mechanical designs, specifications and technical information to ensure compliance with project, client and regulatory requirements.
• Coordinating mechanical activities with other engineering disciplines to identify interfaces, resolve technical challenges and maintain programme requirements.
• Driving a strong safety culture and ensuring mechanical works are delivered in accordance with health and safety legislation, project requirements and company standards.
• Identifying opportunities for innovative engineering solutions, modern methods of construction and continuous improvement throughout the project lifecycle.
• Monitoring quality and technical performance, identifying risks and ensuring appropriate actions are implemented.
• Supporting testing, commissioning and project close-out activities, including quality assurance, technical documentation and handover.

What we're looking for:

• A degree, HNC/HND or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services or a related engineering discipline, together with relevant experience delivering mechanical engineering packages on large-scale projects.
• Experience within major infrastructure, energy, utilities, power, industrial or similarly complex engineering environments would be advantageous.
• Strong technical knowledge of mechanical systems, installation methodologies and commissioning processes.
• Experience coordinating engineering activities across multidisciplinary teams, subcontractors and supply-chain partners.
• Strong leadership skills, with the ability to support, mentor and guide other members of the engineering team.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the confidence to build effective working relationships across a complex project environment.
• A strong commitment to safety, quality and engineering excellence.
• A proactive, collaborative and solutions-focused approach, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and technically demanding environment.
