Job summary

Proftech Talent is seeking a Senior Civil Engineer to join a growing multidisciplinary team delivering water-sector projects in Manchester. This role offers ownership of design tasks and progression toward chartership.

You should have up to 5 years’ civil design experience, and at least 1 year of UK water industry exposure, with experience producing calculations, drawings, and specifications. Hybrid working and permanent or contract opportunities are available.

Qualifications

• Degree, HND or significant practical experience.
• Hydraulic calculations and hydraulic profile experience.
• Strong IT and digital design capability.
• Professional engineering institution membership and working towards chartership.
• Experience owning discrete design tasks.
• Experience producing calculations, specifications, drawings and schedules.
• Experience coordinating with other disciplines.
• Clean water and wastewater experience desirable.
• Infrastructure and non-infrastructure experience desirable.
• Outline and detailed design experience desirable.
• Awareness of construction methods and materials.
• Knowledge of engineering drawing practices.
• Full UK driving licence desirable.

Responsibilities

• Produce safe, compliant and high-quality design deliverables.
• Prepare civil calculations, drawings and technical documentation.
• Develop practical and efficient design solutions.
• Direct and support CAD technicians.
• Prepare design risk assessments, reports and specifications.
• Ensure designs comply with relevant standards and water company requirements.
• Implement and record project design changes.
• Support project planning and attend design meetings.

• Salary up to £65,000 depending on experience
• Contract rates up to £500 per day outside IR35
• Manchester with flexible remote/hybrid working
