Job summary

OCS UK & Ireland is seeking a Mechanical Pre-Construction & Design Manager to lead mechanical design and technical solutions across energy, decarbonisation, M&E, building services and infrastructure. The role is based in Scotland and involves managing consultants, reviewing designs and ensuring buildability and compliance.

You will work with estimating and commercial teams to shape strategy, pricing and risk, ensuring a robust handover to delivery with a clear design scope and risk register.

Qualifications

• Minimum 8 years in mechanical building services design, pre-construction or design leadership.
• Experience leading mechanical design from concept to contract award.
• Knowledge of MEP coordination, Building Regulations and CDM principles.

Responsibilities

• Lead the pre-construction process across opportunities from enquiry to handover.
• Own mechanical design and technical solution during pre-construction across projects.
• Review designs, calculations, drawings and specifications for buildability and compliance.
• Coordinate external MEP consultants and supply-chain partners and manage interfaces.
• Develop commercial strategy, cost plans, take-offs and pricing with estimators.
• Prepare technical content for tenders, proposals and client presentations.
