MLT Group Holdings Ltd in Plymouth / Devon is seeking an experienced Heavy Plant Fitter or Mechanical Plant Engineer to service and repair quarrying and construction plant. The role covers preventive maintenance, fault diagnosis and breakdown support on crushers, screeners and conveyors on a major industrial project.

You will work with a range of equipment, ensuring safe, reliable operation with strong emphasis on downtime reduction, with opportunities for training and career development.

Qualifications

• Experience as a Plant Fitter or Heavy Plant Engineer.
• Servicing quarrying/construction machinery experience.
• Strong fault finding in mechanical/hydraulic/electrical systems.
• Full UK driving licence (essential).

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventative maintenance, servicing and repairs on heavy plant and processing equipment.
• Diagnose and rectify mechanical, hydraulic, electrical and diesel engine faults.
• Respond to breakdowns, identifying faults and minimising downtime.
• Maintain crushing, screening, conveying and associated quarrying equipment.
• Support machinery installations, commissioning and refurbishment projects.
• Inspect equipment, identify potential failures and recommend corrective actions.
• Complete technical service reports and identify replacement parts requirements.
• Work closely with site operations and engineering teams to improve plant reliability.
• Ensure all maintenance and repair activities comply with health and safety procedures.

Heavy Plant Engineer | Quarrying | Crushing & Screening Equipment

Are you an experienced Plant Fitter or Mechanical Engineer who enjoys getting stuck into heavy machinery, diagnosing faults and keeping equipment running at its best?

We are recruiting for an experienced Heavy Plant Fitter / Mechanical Plant Engineer to join an established engineering business supporting a major industrial project in Devon.

This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on Engineer with experience maintaining, servicing and repairing heavy plant, quarrying equipment, crushing and screening machinery or construction plant.

You’ll be working with a variety of equipment, including crushers, screeners, conveyors and mobile plant, helping to ensure machinery operates safely, efficiently and with minimal downtime.

The Role

What We're Looking For

• Previous experience as a Plant Fitter, Heavy Plant Engineer, Field Service Engineer or similar.
• Experience servicing and repairing construction, quarrying or heavy industrial machinery.
• Strong mechanical fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
• Good knowledge of hydraulics, diesel engines and electrical systems.
• Relevant engineering qualifications or a recognised apprenticeship.
• Ability to work independently and solve technical problems under pressure.
• Full UK driving licence (essential).
• CSCS card desirable but not essential.
• Experience with Metso, Terex, Telestack or similar crushing and screening equipment would be advantageous.

We would also welcome applications from engineers with relevant backgrounds in mining, agricultural machinery, heavy equipment maintenance or military engineering.
