Job summary

Tech-People seeks two experienced Mechanical Pipefitters for a 6-month contract at Shrewsbury Hospital. You will install mechanical services, reading drawings and using Sikla/Unistrut systems, copper press-fit, and stainless-steel pipework.

Applicants must hold CSCS/JIB, IPAF, NVQ Level 2+ in pipefitting and bring their own tools. On-site role with day shifts and paid breaks, start date 28/09/2026.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 2 minimum in a relevant mechanical/pipefitting qualification.
• Valid CSCS, JIB or equivalent Skills Card stating Mechanical Pipefitting.
• Valid IPAF certification.
• Own hand tools to complete task requirements.

Responsibilities

• Install mechanical services on a 6-month project at Shrewsbury Hospital.
• Carry out first-fix installation of secondary steelwork using Sikla and Unistrut systems.
• Install copper press-fit pipework and stainless-steel flanged pipework.
• Read and work from mechanical drawings; maintain high safety standards.

Mechanical Pipefitters - 2 Positions

Location: Shrewsbury Hospital, SY3

Start Date: 28/09/2026

Duration: 6 months

Pay Rate: £28.00-£29.00 per hour

Overtime/Weekends: As and when required

Working Hours

Monday-Thursday: 07:30-16:30

Friday: 07:30-15:00

Morning Break: 20 minutes, paid

Afternoon Break: 30 minutes, unpaid

Job Description

We are currently looking for 2 experienced Mechanical Pipefitters to work on a 6-month project at Shrewsbury Hospital.

The successful candidates will be responsible for the installation of mechanical services, including:

• First-fix installation of secondary steelwork using Sikla and Unistrut systems.
• Installation of copper press-fit pipework.
• Installation of stainless-steel flanged pipework.
• Reading and working from mechanical drawings.
• Ensuring all work is completed to a high standard and in line with project requirements.
• Maintaining excellent health and safety standards throughout the project.

Essential Requirements

• Valid CSCS, JIB or equivalent Skills Card - card must state Mechanical Pipefitting.
• NVQ Level 2 minimum in a relevant mechanical/pipefitting qualification.
• Valid IPAF certification.
• Own hand tools.
• Proven experience as a Mechanical Pipefitter.
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings.Reliable with excellent timekeeping and attendance.
• Must have the skills and experience required to carry out the duties of the role safely and competently.

Desirable

• Previous experience working on similar hospital or large commercial projects.
• Own transport.
