Job summary

Matchtech is seeking a Mechanical Package Manager for a site-based role in Blyth, England, to drive the delivery of complex mechanical building services in major data centre developments.

You will coordinate installation sequencing, manage safety and quality, and support commercial tracking while maintaining comprehensive documentation and as-built records. This role requires a mechanical engineering degree and 5+ years of experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services Engineering.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in a similar construction contracting role.
• Prior experience managing process plant installations or water treatment facilities is preferred.
• Fully proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and MS Project.
• Excellent organisation, time management and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Stakeholder management: establish and maintain effective communication with the client and project stakeholders.
• Safety & Quality: draft and implement method statements and risk assessments for mechanical works, ensuring HVAC deliverables meet quality and safety requirements.
• Installation Sequencing: coordinate with the project team to sequence mechanical installations and align with milestones.
• Commercial & Scope Tracking: assist with documenting scope changes, support monthly valuations, and contribute to final accounts.
• Documentation Management: compile, maintain and file all package-related O&M and BCAR documentation.
• Programme Monitoring: manage the four-week look-ahead programme with the project team.
• As-Built Records: monitor modifications to ensure accurate final site records.

Role Overview

A Mechanical Package Manager is required to join an expanding team in the UK on a site-based basis in Blyth. In this role, you will play a key part in driving the successful delivery of complex mechanical building services packages on major data centre developments.

Key Responsibilities

• Stakeholder Management: Establish and maintain effective communication channels with the client and wider project stakeholders.
• Safety & Quality: Draft and implement comprehensive method statements and risk assessments for all package-related mechanical works, ensuring HVAC deliverables satisfy quality and safety requirements.
• Installation Sequencing: Coordinate with the broader project team to sequence mechanical installations, including pipework, aligning activities with scheduled programme milestones.
• Commercial & Scope Tracking: Assist with the documentation and costing of scope changes, support the preparation of monthly valuations, and contribute to the final account process.
• Documentation Management: Compile, maintain, and file all package-related O&M and BCAR documentation.
• Programme Monitoring: Manage and track the four-week look-ahead programme in close coordination with the project team.
• As-Built Records: Monitor modifications during installation to ensure all as-built records accurately reflect the final site construction.

Skills & Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience in a similar role within a construction contracting environment.
• Preferred Background: Prior experience managing process plant installations or water treatment facilities is strongly preferred.
• Technical Skills: Fully proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and MS Project.
• Core Competencies: Excellent organisation, time management, and communication skills.
