Job summary

Highfield Professional Solutions Ltd is seeking an experienced Mechanical Package Manager to oversee mechanical installation and building fit-out works on a major defence project. The role is site-based in Plymouth, Devonport.

You will manage packages from planning through installation and handover, coordinate subcontractors and multidisciplinary teams, ensure CDM compliance, safety and quality records, and manage programme and costs.

Qualifications

• Experience in mechanical package management or equivalent construction management.
• Strong mechanical construction/installation background.
• Experience coordinating subcontractors and multidisciplinary interfaces.

Responsibilities

• Manage mechanical packages from planning to installation and handover.
• Coordinate subcontractors, engineering teams and site activities.
• Review designs for safety, efficiency and compliance.
• Manage programme, costs, risks and change control.
• Oversee quality documentation, ITPs, RAMS and handover records.
• Provide site leadership and ensure safe delivery to specification.

Mechanical Package Manager - Nuclear / Defence

Location: Plymouth - Devonport

Rate: Up to £57.75 per hour - Umbrella PAYE

Hours: 45 hours per week (9-hour days)

Working Pattern: Full-time site-based - no hybrid or home working

Additional Benefit: Daily accommodation / travel uplift for candidates living over 30 miles from site

Security: Must be eligible for BPSS security clearance

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Package Manager to oversee mechanical installation and building fit-out works on a major project within a live defence environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage mechanical packages from planning and procurement through to installation and handover.
• Coordinate subcontractors, engineering teams and multidisciplinary site activities.
• Review designs to ensure safe, efficient and compliant construction.
• Manage programme, progress, costs, risks and change control.
• Oversee quality documentation, ITPs, RAMS and handover records.
• Provide site leadership and ensure works are delivered safely and to specification.

Essential Experience

• Previous Mechanical Package Management or similar construction management experience.
• Strong mechanical construction / installation background.
• Experience managing subcontractors and multidisciplinary interfaces.
• Good understanding of CDM, construction safety and quality assurance.
• SMSTS and relevant CSCS card.

Desirable

• Nuclear, defence or other highly regulated project experience.
• HNC or NVQ Level 6 in Mechanical Engineering.
• NEC contract experience, ideally NEC4.
• Experience with Aphex, ProjectWise or CEMAR
