Job summary

QuickSource Group Ltd is recruiting a Mechanical Operations Manager to oversee the Mechanical and Water Services department in West London. You will manage a multidisciplinary team, coordinate planned and reactive maintenance, and ensure delivery against safety, quality and regulatory standards.

The role requires strong leadership, experience with water systems, and a proven track record in compliance with ACOP L8, HSG274 and BS 8580-1.

Qualifications

• HNC/HND in Mechanical or Building Services Engineering or equivalent.
• Experience in senior mechanical operations or similar role.
• Strong knowledge of water systems, pumps and maintenance.
• Familiarity with ACOP L8, HSG274, BS 8580-1 and water hygiene compliance.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day operations of Mechanical and Water Services.
• Lead and manage Plumbers, Mechanical Engineers, Water Hygiene Technicians, Pump Engineers and subcontractors.
• Provide technical oversight across plumbing, water hygiene, drainage, pumps and mechanical building services.
• Ensure compliance with ACOP L8, HSG274, BS 8580-1 and Water Regulations.
• Manage maintenance contracts across properties with KPIs, SLAs and budgets.
• Oversee hot/cold water systems, TMVs, calorifiers, booster sets, pressurisation units and closed loops.
• Monitor water hygiene compliance including risk assessments and audits.
• Resource management including workloads, subcontractors and small works.
• Investigate issues and implement corrective actions and improvements.
• Maintain compliance records, asset information, quotations and client updates.
• Build strong client relationships and promote safety and continuous improvement.

Mechanical Operations Manager

The Opportunity

This role involves maintaining compliance standards and service quality across water hygiene, plumbing, drainage, pumping systems and associated mechanical services

• Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Mechanical and Water Services department, covering planned, reactive and remedial maintenance.
• Lead and manage a team of Plumbers, Mechanical Engineers, Water Hygiene Technicians, Pump Engineers and subcontractors.
• Provide technical oversight across plumbing, water hygiene, drainage, pumps, water treatment and mechanical building services.
• Ensure compliance with ACOP L8, HSG274, BS 8580-1, Water Supply Regulations and relevant health and safety legislation.
• Manage maintenance contracts across commercial and domestic properties, ensuring delivery against agreed KPIs, SLAs, budgets and quality standards.
• Oversee maintenance of hot and cold water systems, TMVs, calorifiers, booster sets, pressurisation units, tanks and closed-loop systems.
• Monitor water hygiene compliance, including risk assessments, sampling, temperature monitoring, audits and remedial actions.
• Manage operational resources, engineer workloads, subcontractors and small works projects.
• Investigate technical issues and service failures, implementing corrective actions and improvements.
• Maintain accurate compliance records and asset information, preparing quotations, technical reports and client updates.
• Build strong client relationships while promoting high standards of service delivery, health and safety and continuous improvement.

Requirements & Experience

• HNC/HND in Mechanical or Building Services Engineering, NVQ Level 5 or above, or equivalent relevant qualification.
• Previous experience in a Mechanical Operations Manager, Mechanical Services Manager or similar senior operational role.
• Strong background in mechanical building services, including plumbing, water systems, pumps and maintenance.
• Good working knowledge of ACOP L8, HSG274, BS 8580-1 and water hygiene compliance.
• Experience managing engineering teams, subcontractors, maintenance contracts and operational performance.
• Strong understanding of PPM, reactive maintenance, remedial works and statutory compliance.
• Excellent leadership, organisational, reporting and client communication skills.
• CAFM/CMMS experience desirable, with knowledge of SFG20 an advantage.
• Commercial health and safety awareness.
• Full clean UK driving licence essential.
