Job summary

Omega Resource Group is seeking a Mechanical Maintenance Technician for night shifts in Wellingborough. Salary ranges £40,000–£45,000 depending on experience, with a 12-hour shift pattern (3 nights on, 2 off, 3 nights on, 4 off).

Responsibilities include fault diagnosis and repairs on mechanical/hydraulic systems, performing planned maintenance, and supporting OEE improvement initiatives. Experience in hydraulics, pneumatics, and basic electrical fault finding is valued.

Qualifications

• Minimum Level 2 or Level 3 engineering qualification (Mechanical or Electrical).
• Strong mechanical maintenance background in manufacturing.
• Experience with hydraulics, pneumatics and mechanical systems.
• Basic electrical fault-finding ability (desirable).
• Proven ability to diagnose faults and carry out efficient repairs.
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, shift-based environment.
• A proactive, team-oriented mindset with strong problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Carry out fault diagnosis and repairs on mechanical and hydraulic systems across production equipment.
• Perform planned preventive maintenance to maximise machinery reliability and efficiency.
• Troubleshoot breakdowns and implement long-term solutions to minimise downtime.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives to optimise equipment performance (OEE).
• Maintain and service site equipment, utilities, and general mechanical systems.
• Work with production teams to minimise operational disruption.
• Complete maintenance records and ensure compliance with health & safety standards.
• Assist with basic electrical fault finding and repair where required.

£40,000 - £45,000 (Experience Dependent)

3 night on, 2 off, 3 nights on, 4 off (12-hour shifts, 7-7)

Responsibilities

• Carry out fault diagnosis and repairs on mechanical and hydraulic systems across production equipment
• Perform planned preventative maintenance (PPM) to maximise machinery reliability and efficiency
• Troubleshoot breakdowns and implement effective, long-term solutions to minimise downtime
• Support continuous improvement initiatives to optimise equipment performance (OEE)
• Maintain and service site equipment, utilities, and general mechanical systems
• Work collaboratively with production teams to ensure minimal disruption to operations
• Complete maintenance records and ensure all work is carried out in line with health & safety standards
• Assist with basic electrical fault finding and repair where required

Experience / Qualifications
