Job description

Role: Mechanical Maintenance Technician

Location: Birmingham

Salary: Competitive + Company Bonus & Benefits

Hours: Monday to Friday, 7:00 am to 3:30 pm (38.75 hours)

Our client, a leading international manufacturer, is seeking an experienced Mechanical Maintenance Technician to join their Birmingham site during a period of significant growth.

As a Mechanical Maintenance Technician, you will be part of a multi-skilled maintenance team that operates flexibly and professionally. Your responsibilities include assisting with both breakdown and preventative maintenance across the site safely and efficiently.

Responsibilities include:
  • Adhering to all safety protocols at all times.
  • Performing routine daily preventative maintenance checks.
  • Collaborating with Production Team Leaders, Shift Technicians, and Operators, and reporting findings to your Departmental Team Leader.
  • Taking responsibility for specific areas to understand their operation and maintenance requirements, including safe systems of work.
  • Ensuring all tasks are documented with relevant paperwork (work orders, risk assessments, etc.).
  • Carrying out planned and unplanned maintenance promptly.
  • Serving as a frontline communication point during maintenance activities.
  • Participating in projects aimed at improving, extending, or modifying equipment to enhance efficiency, reliability, and safety.
What we are looking for:
  • Recognised apprenticeship in a mechanical discipline (e.g., ONC engineering or equivalent).
  • Knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
  • Awareness of lean manufacturing tools.
  • Understanding of continuous improvement techniques.
  • Mechanical experience in process manufacturing or heavy machinery environments.
  • Attention to detail, with problem analysis and solution implementation skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Ability to self-organise, prioritise tasks, and meet deadlines.
  • Experience with high-speed processes.
